How and Why We Use Your Sensitive Personal Information

Sometimes, we may also need to collect Sensitive Personal Information for the sole purpose of verifying your identity (e.g., your privacy right request; your request to remove your child’s Personal Information). Who We Disclose Your Personal Information to for Business Purposes

In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have disclosed your Personal Information to the following parties for necessary Business Purposes:

• Website hosts to provide an online platform for our Site and Services;
• Third parties as approved by you when you register for webinars, conferences, delegations, or other events through the Site; and

We may disclose Personal Information with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations. We may also disclose Personal Information with external auditors in relation to accreditation and the audit of our accounts. We may also need to disclose Personal Information with other parties, such as potential buyers of some or all of our business or during a re-structuring. We will typically anonymize this information, but this may not always be possible. The recipient of the information will be bound by confidentiality obligations.

When engaging in the Site or Services (e.g., registering for webinars, conferences, delegations, or other events, or signing up to receive emails or newsletters; making a privacy request), you may be asked to provide an email address. Communications from or on behalf of us may include but are not limited to the use of Site or Services, User support, and informational communications concerning the Site or Services.

If you would like to discontinue receiving email Communications, you may update your preferences by using the “Unsubscribe” link found in our emails. We allow all Site Users to opt-out of the Sale or Share of their Personal Information (including Sensitive Personal Information) for money, valuable consideration, targeted advertising, or profiling. We may also allow Users to opt out of the continuous processing of their Personal Information in specific circumstances, even if we use such information for legitimate interests or necessary Business Purposes.

We also offer all Users the option to exercise any U.S. or Canadian opt out right listed within this section. Please note that if you opt out of having your information used for purposes directly related to our Services, it may prevent you from receiving our Services.

The Right to Opt Out: Canada

Canada gives residents of certain provinces or territories the right to opt out of the continued processing of their Personal Information in certain situations. This may also include data processing for legitimate interests and necessary Business Purposes unless there are compelling reasons for the processing to continue or the processing is required for legal claims. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

The state of California provides their residents with the right to opt out of:

• The Sale or Sharing of Personal Information for money and other value; and/or
• The Sale or Sharing of Personal Information for the purpose of cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted advertising) or profiling.

DB ECO NA does not Sell or Share your Personal Information for money or other valuable consideration—or Share your Personal Information for targeted advertisement or profiling purposes. Limit the Use and Disclosure of My Sensitive Personal Information

The state of California also provides their residents with the right to limit the use and disclosure of their Sensitive Personal Information to necessary Business Purposes. DB ECO NA only uses your Sensitive Personal Information for necessary Business Purposes. Mobile Opt Out

Most mobile operating systems offer device-based opt-out choices that are sent to companies that participate in interest-based advertising. Remember that these settings must be performed on each device (including the web browser on each device) that you would like to opt-out on; if you clear your cookies or use a different browser or device, you will need to opt-out again. 

Do Not Track

Certain web and mobile browsers, as well as mobile operating systems, allow you to send a signal to inform websites or mobile applications that you do not want your online activities tracked. Eligibility for Services

General browsing of our Site or Services is not intended for users under the age of thirteen (13). We do not collect information from children under thirteen (13) and we specifically prohibit children under thirteen (13) from entering any parts of the Site or Services where Personal Information may be collected. Additionally, you must be eighteen (18) years of age or older or have the legal authorization of a parent or legal guardian to register for a DB ECO NA webinar, conference, delegation, or similar event. To submit an employment application to our job postings section, you must also be eighteen (18) years of age or older. If you are a parent or legal guardian of a child below thirteen (13) who has submitted Personal Information to the Site or Services without the knowledge of DB ECO NA, please contact us (see “How to Contact Us” below) so we may delete the information collected.

Quebec Private Sector Act: Minor’s Eligibility

For residents of the province of Quebec, general browsing of our Site or Services is not intended for users under the age of fourteen (14). We do not collect information from children under fourteen (14) who are residing in Quebec and we specifically prohibit such children from entering any parts of the Site or Services where Personal Information may be collected.

If you are a parent or legal guardian of a child residing in Quebec who is under fourteen (14) and has submitted Personal Information to the Site or Services without the knowledge of DB ECO NA, please contact us (see “How to Contact Us” below) so we may delete the information collected.

Privacy Rights for California Minors in the Digital World Act

If you are a California resident under the age of eighteen (18) and are a User of our Site or Services, you may request that we remove the Personal Information you have posted on our Site or Services. Please contact us (see “How to Contact Us” below) so we may delete the information collected. Keep in mind, however, that certain California or federal laws may stop us from deleting specific categories of your Personal Information if applicable.

DB ECO NA is very concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of Personal Information. We use commercially reasonable physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your Personal Information.

However, due to the inherent nature of the Internet as an open global communications vehicle, we make no guarantee as to the security of your information or that your information, during transmission through the Internet or while stored on our system or otherwise in our care, will be absolutely safe from intrusion by others, such as hackers. BY USING OUR SITE OR SERVICES OR BY PROVIDING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO US, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND AND ASSUME THESE RISKS.

DB ECO NA will notify you in accordance with applicable laws in the event of a security breach relating to your Personal Information.

We will keep your Personal Information while you have an account with us or while we are providing Services to you. We process your Personal Information for the minimum period necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice unless there is a specific legal requirement for us to keep the information for a longer retention period. We determine the appropriate retention period based on the amount, nature, and sensitivity of your Personal Information, and after the retention period ends, we will delete or anonymize your Personal Information. When we are unable to do so for technical reasons, we will put adequate safeguards in place to prevent any further such use of your Personal Information.

• To show that we treated you fairly; or
• To keep records required by law.

If you are a User located outside of North America, please be aware that Personal Information may be transferred, stored, and processed outside of your country, including in the USA and Canada. Users’ Privacy Options

US State Applicable Privacy Rights

Residents of certain US states may have specific privacy rights, including but not limited to the rights listed below, that they may exercise free of charge:

We respect your control over your Personal Information. You can exercise your privacy rights by:

• Sending us a request; we will respond within thirty (30) days (please see “How to Contact Us” below for details on how to send a request);
• Visiting our Opt-Out Form here. We will respond within fifteen (15) business days; or
• Visiting our Privacy Rights Appeal Form here. We will respond within forty-five (45) days.

Depending on where you live, you may have a right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority or other regulatory agency if you believe that we have violated any of the rights concerning Personal Information. Some states provide their residents with the right to appeal if we refuse to complete a privacy request. At DB ECO NA, we allow all Users the option to appeal our refusal of a privacy request.

The appeal must be sent within a reasonable time after our refusal. If you submit a privacy right request and we refuse to act on it, we will let you know, within thirty days (30) of receipt of your request, of our reason for declining to act. Within forty-five (45) days of receipt of your appeal, we will inform you of any actions we took (or did not take) in response to your appeal, along with a written explanation of the reasons for our decision. If your appeal is denied, you may have the right to submit a complaint to the Attorney General of your state, if applicable.
